TL;DR: Hypermural X is wall-only at $18,900. Hypermural X Dual is $22,600 and adds floor printing. Both have two industrial printheads and up to 2.4 m wall print height. “Dual” refers to walls and floors, not a greater head count. Select by the surfaces you actually intend to print.
The difference that decides the shortlist
These two names can cause a simple misunderstanding: the X Dual does not have more printheads than the X. Each lists two industrial printheads, one for CMYK and one for white. The X is a dedicated vertical printer; the X Dual extends the platform to horizontal surfaces. If your documented work is only wall murals, floor capability is a feature to assess rather than a requirement to purchase automatically.
For contractors and remodelers, start with the finish schedule. A painted feature wall and a printed floor graphic involve different access, protection and approval questions. X Dual is worth evaluating when floor graphics are genuinely part of that scope. X is worth evaluating when the service remains direct-to-wall and the published car-portable arrangement addresses transport between sites.
Wall dimensions and edge clearance
Both models publish up to 2.4 m wall print height with unlimited width and no closer than 50 cm to the floor or ceiling. Unlimited width describes continuing along the wall, not an infinitely long rail or unrestricted access. Measure the actual printed design and room obstacles before deciding how the work can be positioned.
The X description states that a standard six-meter rail section covers a 6 × 2.4 m setup. The X Dual's floor-size row instead says to request the current spec sheet. Keep those statements separate. The wall dimension does not establish the floor band or the included floor-rail geometry.
Published production speed for both is approximately 25 minutes per square meter, or about 2.4 m²/hour, in CMYK at normal quality. A white underbase adds time. Do not apply that statement to every file, substrate or floor job; it is the catalog's stated production condition, not an overall installation estimate.
Transport and setup are model-specific
X publishes four standard-sized carry bags that fit in a car and a 10–15 minute setup. Its hand-crank ratchet allows column sections to be added or removed without re-threading the belt. These details are relevant when a mobile contractor must assess loading, working space and repeated relocation.
X Dual describes a modular four-package design and a ten-minute installation time. Do not silently replace “packages” with the X's exact carry-bag promise. Ask for the current packing information, handling requirements and floor accessories in the quote. Neither setup statement includes room clearance, wall preparation, artwork approval or the customer's handover process.
White ink and ongoing care
Both models state that white-ink circulation is not fitted. That is a maintenance consideration to discuss, not evidence of a specific failure rate. Follow the supplied instructions for the quoted configuration and ask how storage or idle periods should be handled. Avoid treating a two-head specification as a substitute for appropriate printhead care.
The X publishes approximate ink consumption of 6–10 ml per square meter. This guide does not transfer that number to an unlisted X Dual floor mode. Consumption and the need for white depend on the actual design and surface. Use a test and your own records to refine job costing.
Choose the actual application
X is the narrower application choice for wall-only work with documented portable setup. X Dual is the broader surface choice when horizontal printing belongs in your plan. Compare the added capability with the jobs you have evaluated; the difference in list price is not a forecast of additional bookings or equipment recovery.
Published model comparison
Prices below are USD list prices including worldwide shipping. These are catalog specifications, not measured comparisons or a promise of job performance. Column height is labeled separately from usable print height.
| Model | List price | Wall / floor | Height as published | Standard printheads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hypermural X | $18,900 | Walls only | Up to 2.4 m | 2 × industrial printheads |
| Hypermural X Dual | $22,600 | Walls and floors | Wall up to 2.4 m | 2 × industrial printheads |
Published speeds use their stated conditions; do not treat different ranges as a controlled head-to-head test. A rail's physical length is not the floor's cross-track print band. Request the current spec sheet where the catalog does not publish a dimension.
Included equipment and training
The model pages list these included items. Confirm the exact configuration and any optional accessories in your written quote; do not assume an option is included at list price.
Remote video training and control software are included. Training scope is confirmed in writing with each quote. No fixed curriculum, completion deadline or certification is promised here.
Ownership, delivery and support
You own the equipment outright, with no franchise fees, royalties or territory limits. Ownership does not provide customers or a booked workload. You remain responsible for selling, artwork, preparation and operation. The contractor buyer guide discusses potential applications, not verified customer results.
Machines are designed and tested in California and shipped from California. List prices include worldwide shipping; destination duties, taxes and clearance are excluded. Delivery coordination and timing are confirmed with your quote, not assumed from this comparison.
U.S.-based support comes from Sherman Oaks, California, with multilingual assistance available. Every model carries a one-year parts warranty per written terms. Consumables and normal printhead wear are excluded; labor and service shipping are included only if the terms say so. Read the warranty. No response time is promised.
US buyers pay by wire or credit card with a processing fee. International buyers pay by wire in full before shipment. No financing or leasing is offered.
Budget and next steps
Published consumables are a $175 five-bottle ink set, $1,500 industrial replacement printhead, $3,200 Nova replacement printhead and approximately $150 maintenance supplies. Ink is $0.40–$6.70 per m², depending on coverage and white underbase. These are published costs, not replacement intervals or complete job-cost estimates.
Budget separately for a suitable laptop, transport, storage, preparation and business expenses using your own researched costs. Review running costs and the calculator with your own assumptions. Vertiq publishes no income, payback or return figures for any operator.
Compare all six models and prices. Request an on-demand demo video, a custom artwork recording or a mailed sample print (you cover sample shipping). Confirm your actual surface, access and dimensions against the current spec sheet and written quote before buying. Samples do not guarantee performance at another site.
