A UV wall printer for sign shops
Sign shops already sell branding to businesses that want to be seen. A UV wall printer lets the shop print that branding straight onto the wall, window or floor instead of cutting, weeding and applying vinyl. This page covers the jobs sign shops sell with a wall printer, how they compare with vinyl, which Vertiq models usually fit and what to budget.

Who this is for
This page is for established sign and graphics shops that already quote installed graphics: vehicle wraps, window lettering, dimensional letters, banners and wall vinyl. These shops have the customers, the design workflow and the installers. What they often lack is a way to deliver large wall graphics without the material, waste and seams of printed film.
A wall printer suits shops whose customers repeatedly ask for lobby logos, branded offices, retail feature walls or storefront glass. It also suits shops that want a service competitors in their area cannot easily match with a wide-format printer alone.
Jobs sign shops sell with a wall printer
- Reception and lobby logo walls
- Painted drywall or plaster, typically a single wall in an office lobby or meeting room, printed directly from the client's brand files.
- Retail and hospitality feature walls
- Murals and branded scenes in stores, cafés, restaurants and gyms, often on painted block, brick or concrete.
- Glass and storefront graphics
- Partitions, doors and display panels. Smooth glass may need cleaning or a bonding primer for best adhesion, so test first.
- Metal and panel signage
- Elevator doors, equipment panels and metal cladding, with a primer where the surface is non-porous.
- Floor graphics and wayfinding
- Directional floor markings and promotional zones, on models listed for floors.
- Event and seasonal refreshes
- Temporary or repeat graphics for retail seasons and events, where a repaint or new print replaces the old artwork.
Why direct-to-wall instead of vinyl
Wall vinyl has to be printed, laminated, trimmed and applied in panels, and every panel creates a seam to align. On textured block, brick or rough plaster, film struggles to conform and can lift. A UV wall printer applies ink directly to the surface, so there is no film to remove later and no panel seams across the image.
Compared with hand painting, a printer reproduces photographic detail, gradients and exact brand artwork from the file. Painters remain valuable for large flat colors and lettering; the printer covers the artwork that would take a muralist days. Many shops offer all three and recommend the method that suits each job.
How a shop adds wall printing to its workflow
The design side changes little: the printer accepts PSD, CDR, JPG, PNG, TIFF, EPS, AI and PDF files, so your existing artwork pipeline carries over. The new steps are a site visit to check the surface, surface preparation, the print itself and an optional clear coat. Most shops start by printing their own showroom wall, which becomes the sample customers see.
How sign shops price wall printing
Most sign shops quote wall printing per square foot or per square meter, the same way they quote wall vinyl, then add a minimum charge for small jobs, a travel charge and design time. Some quote logo walls as a fixed package because the size is similar from client to client.
Surface preparation, primer on glass or metal and an optional clear coat are usually itemized so the client sees what the price covers. Because ink typically costs $0.40–$6.70 per square meter, the larger share of each job's cost is the crew's time on site — base your rates on your local market and on how long setup, printing and cleanup take.

Sign shops: common questions
Can a sign shop print logos on glass with a wall printer?
Yes. Vertiq printers list glass among printable surfaces. Smooth glass may need cleaning or a bonding primer for best adhesion, so test a small area before a full job.
Does a wall printer replace my wide-format printer?
No. A wall printer prints directly onto installed surfaces. Wide-format printers still handle banners, vehicle wraps and film. Most shops run both.
What file formats does the printer accept?
PSD, CDR, JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, EPS, AI and PDF, so existing sign-shop artwork carries over.
Which Vertiq model suits a sign shop?
The Vertiq Apex suits mixed surfaces including glass and metal. Hypermural X suits frequent wall-only site work. Hypermural X Dual adds floors. Prices are on each model page and include shipping.
Is financing available?
Vertiq does not offer financing or leasing. US customers pay by wire transfer or credit card with a processing fee; international buyers pay by bank wire.
What warranty and support come with the machine?
Every model carries a one-year parts warranty subject to its written terms, remote video training in English and U.S.-based support from Sherman Oaks, California.
